DIY Ghost Garlands

Halloween is next week! I’m so excited about the candy and all the spooky costumes! This adorable ghost garland craft is the perfect way to add some Halloween spirit to a kid’s room.

Materials needed:

-White sheet of paper

-Pencil

-Scissors

-Ruler

-Black or gray marker

Now that we have everything, let’s get crafting!

To begin, measure and cut out a strip of paper 11 inches wide by 2 inches high.

Once that’s done, make little dashes spaced 1.5 inches apart along the width of the paper. To the right of the final dash, there should be approximately half an inch of excess paper remaining, which should be cut off.

Next, accordion fold the strip of paper along the dashes. Using a stencil or just freehanding, trace a ghost shape on the top piece of paper, making sure that the arms of the ghost connect to the edges of the paper, as shown below.

Then, cut out the shape. Once you unfold the sheet, you should have a garland of ghosts! Fun fact about ghosts: 2,000 years ago, people from England, Northern France, and Ireland celebrated a festival called Samhain, where they wore costumes and lit bonfires to ward off ghosts.

Finally, take the black or gray marker and draw two ovals for the eyes of the ghost and a smaller oval for the mouth.

That’s the completed ghost garland! Make a few more to hang on walls around the house!
