DIY Popsicle Stick Cacti

I think cacti are such beautiful plants! Their multitude of shapes and sizes makes them so interesting to look at. This simple cactus popsicle stick craft is a cute way to bring some southwestern charm to any kid’s room!

Materials needed:

-Green popsicle stick(s)

-Green construction paper

-Black marker

-Glue

-Scissors

-Small red or pink pom-poms (optional)

Now that we have everything, let’s get crafting!

*Note: if you do not have green popsicle sticks, just paint some plain popsicle sticks with green acrylic paint!*

First, trace and cut out two cactus arms from the green construction paper. I used the popsicle stick as a guide for the size of the arms, and I suggest you do the same for a more proportionate-looking cactus.

Glue the cactus arms to one side of the popsicle stick.

Flip the popsicle stick over. Take the black marker and draw little dashes all over the popsicle stick. These dashes are the spines of your cactus. Fun fact: cactus spines can collect traces of water from the wind!

*Optional step- glue a pom-pom to the tip of the popsicle stick to represent a cactus flower.*

That’s our completed, super-simple, cactus!
