DIY Tissue Paper Blooming Tree

Where I live, many trees are already starting to bloom- a beautiful reminder that spring is in full swing! This tissue paper craft is a lovely way for kids to capture the beauty of such springtime flowering trees.

Materials needed:

-Pink and/or white tissue paper

-Brown construction paper

-Light blue or white paper (for background)

-Pencil

-Scissors

-Glue

-Green marker/colored pencil (optional)

Now that we have everything, let’s get crafting!

To begin, trace and cut out a tree trunk with branches from the brown construction paper. You can make the shape more organic and flowy like mine or design it to your liking.

Glue this tree trunk to the white or light blue paper you chose for the craft backdrop. Make sure the trunk is not glued too close to the top or left and right sides of the paper to have enough space for the tissue paper flowers.

Now, take the pink and/or white tissue paper and start ripping bits of it off, crumpling these bits into loose spheres. These pieces represent the blooming flowers of the tree.

Then, take some glue and start dabbing it randomly around the branches of the paper tree, attaching the tissue paper crumple flowers to the spots of glue. Fun fact about flowering trees: The National Cherry Blossom Festival in Washington D.C. has been celebrated in late March and early April for over 75 years!

Optionally, you can use a green marker or colored pencil to add some leaves to your blooming tree.

That’s the completed tissue paper tree craft! So simple, yet so beautiful!
