DIY Toilet Paper Roll Jack-o'-Lantern

It’s October, meaning it’s officially spooky season! I can’t wait for Halloween, pumpkin picking and carving, costume parties, the list goes on and on! This adorable toilet paper roll jack-o’-lantern is a perfect craft to make as we near Halloween.

Materials needed:

-Toilet paper roll

-Orange and black acrylic paint

-Paintbrush(es)

-Pencil

-Green construction paper

-Green pipe cleaner

-Tape or glue

-Scissors

Now that we have everything, let’s get crafting!

Before we begin, you can optionally cut your toilet paper roll in half for a more petite pumpkin.

First, paint the toilet paper roll orange.

Take the pencil and sketch out two triangle eyes and a smiling mouth for your jack-o’-lantern. Fill in the shapes with the black acrylic paint. Fun fact: jack-o’-lanterns were originally made from turnips and potatoes.

From the green construction paper, trace and cut out a small rectangle for the pumpkin stem. Tape or glue the rectangle to the inside of the toilet paper roll, making sure that half of it sticks out over the edge.

Take the green pipe cleaner and bend it into a spiral shape. This spiral represents the pumpkin vine. If any excess pipe cleaner remains, cut it off but make sure you leave enough space to glue or tape the pipe cleaner to the inside of the toilet paper roll.

Once the pipe cleaner is secure in the toilet paper roll, your toilet paper jack-o’-lantern is complete! How cute!
