DIY Valentine's Day Butterfly Card

It’s February, so Valentine’s Day is coming up! This butterfly card craft is a lovely homemade Valentine’s Day gift for the special people in your child’s life!

Materials needed:

-Two different shades of red or pink construction paper

-Three pom-poms (any color, one should be larger than the other two)

-White sheet of paper

-Scissors

-Glue

-Colored pencils/ pens/ markers

Now that we have everything, let’s get crafting!

First, fold the white sheet of paper in half. On the front of the paper, glue down the three pom-poms, each slightly below the last, to make the butterfly’s body. The largest pom-pom should be below the other two, as shown in the image below.

Next, cut out two large hearts from one of the colored sheets of construction paper. From the other colored sheet, cut out two smaller hearts.

Glue one small heart into each of the larger ones. These hearts will be the wings of the butterfly. Fun fact about butterflies: There are about 20,000 butterfly species in the world!

Now glue a “wing” on either side of the pom-pom body. Note that the points of the hearts should face the body, as shown in the image below.

Using colored pencils or markers, draw on two antennae for the butterfly. You can also decorate the surrounding space with hearts, roses, or the phrase “Happy Valentine’s Day!”

Finally, write a sweet Valentine’s Day message on the inside of your card and decorate it with designs of your choice.

That’s your completed butterfly card! Happy Valentine’s Day!
